We ask all new members to carefully read through the following overview. We love transparency, clear communication, and feeding people good food!
This stands for Community Supported Agriculture, a model where members buy a “share”of the farm at the beginning of the season, covering the cost of seed, irrigation parts, compost, packing supplies, and the myriad of things that the farmer needed to get the season going, and taking on some of the risk that the farmer carries in planting, tending and harvesting crops. In exchange, the members receive fresh, seasonal produce from the farm on a regular basis. It is based on mutual respect between the customers and the farmers. Our weekly Farm Box model evolved to give the subscriber more freedom in when and how much they pay at a time for their subscription. We, the farmer, carry more of the burden of up-front costs so we can give members more options.
We offer several share options – see our CSA Farm Box page for details and pricing.
Each regular share comes with 30 credits in our farm store every week. Exceptions: Farm Share, which is not shopped online, and special /seasonal shares with reduced price and items. Due to the wide variety of vegetables, fruits, value-added, and grocery essentials we offer, we find members don’t have a problem using that credit each month. However, if you can’t use your full credit amount, just pause your share for a week. Unused credits don’t carry forward in our current system.
We use online software to help manage all the details of hundreds of farm members and make sure they get what is best for them and their families.
You will be asked to create an account when you join the CSA or shop online. You’ll be able to log into your account, choose and change your share, add options like milk or eggs, pause deliveries, and add additional items to your weekly order.
Autopay: If you choose the Autopay option, your account will automatically be charged again any time the balance falls below $40, and you will receive an email notification of the charge. Your card will renew each month until you ask us to cancel.
Manual: If you prefer, you will still have the option to make manual payments. In this case, you will receive an email when your account balance is below $50, and another if a hold has to be placed on your account because the balance does not cover that week’s box.
Please make out checks to Central Food Hub, and mail to: 572 Central Ave, Carlisle, OH 45005
To cancel your Farm on Central subscription or put on long-term hold, send us an email at least 2 weeks before your card is due to charge again. We understand that things can come up suddenly, but we do need notice if you are moving, or need to pause for a long period of time.
If you believe you deserve a credit for poor quality, damaged, or otherwise unsaleable produce, please email us. We will evaluate cases individually. Be sure to include what day/time you picked up the produce, how it was stored, and pictures if possible. Your concern will be addressed and a refund determination will be made within 14 business days from your submitted request. Our team works hard to produce the best products possible, so your feedback helps us improve our systems and catch issues early on.
Missed Shares: Credit will not be given if you (a) don’t notify us you can’t come that week and (b) don’t pick up your share by closing time Saturday. You can put in a Delivery Hold for any week you will be gone.
Box Credits: For canceled shares, we don’t refund box credits once your card has been charged. However, you can continue to use those credits even after your credit card has been canceled in our system. Box credits do not currently transfer to our farm store, those are two different systems.
Missed Weeks – Seasonal Shares: Seasonal shares that miss a week for any reason, are welcome to double up the next week. Or, have a friend pick up your share that week. Refunds are not issued for missed Seasonal shares.
If your account is low on credit and it hasn’t been paid, we will not pack you a box.
We have several locations that you may pickup in the general area. Please be respectful of these locations, and the hard work they do to help us distribute food to our community.
Please make sure to come during the pickup window — these locations typically do not have refrigeration, and can’t hold your bags.
Make sure to pick up the bag with your name on it. Shares are customized so each share bag may be different.
We know that you are our best advertising and want to reward you if you share us with a friend, it’s truly a win, win, win! If you refer someone to our program, ask them to mention your name on signup, and we will give you a $25 referral credit if they sign up and stick with us for at least 4 deliveries.
